A Gift From DAI To Help Focus Our Hearts This Advent
“Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel,
because he has come to his people and redeemed them.
He has raised up a horn of salvation for us
in the house of his servant David.”
From Zechariah’s Song
During this Advent season, I find myself reflecting on God’s amazing act of servant leadership, in sending His Son to meet our need for redemption. Sacrificially, He met our desperate need.
And the way He did it was even more unexpected. God didn’t use His limitless power to guarantee this gift by sending Jesus to be born in the safety of the greatest palace in the land, as would have been appropriate. But rather He sent His one and only Son into the world as a helpless baby, to simple village parents, who had to face the violent wrath of the insecure local ruler, eventually forcing them to flee as refugees to a neighboring country. This Savior could identify with the least and the lost from day one.
How many of us as leaders would think of this as a great strategic ministry plan? How many of us are willing to lay down our position, power and security for the good of our followers and even for those who are actively opposing us? Yet this is the example we have of great leadership in this “upside down” Kingdom in which we serve, where leaders must be servants and dependency is the empowering strategy.
Please consider a year-end gift to DAI so that we can provide even more resources to leaders in 2019 who want to keep learning how to lead God’s way, to accomplish His purposes, in their local communities. We are dependent on your gifts to serve these leaders.
Merry Christmas, and thank you,
P.S. And if you want to reflect more on these thoughts, check out the two “gifts” below for you.
